Early Look at Oakwood Heights Review

Early Look at Oakwood Heights Review

Hey everyone, I knocked out my next RPG review video before the weekend, so here's an early look. This one covers the Kult adventure Oakwood Heights, which currently owns the title as, 'the darkest adventure we've ever played.'  I plan to get the subtitles for it up in the next day or two.

Outside of that, we finished our Call of Cthulhu adventure Flotsam & Jetsam with the How We Roll Podcast. They're releasing the episodes of o...

Early Look at The Next Video

Early Look at The Next Video

Hey Everyone,

The next video is up and available for early Patron access. This one will be taking a look at why, when, and how to split the party. I'll be posting it for public consumption tomorrow evening, but you can see it now.

In other news, I've got the first 3 episodes of the Modern Mythos Podcast loaded on the second channel. Our fourth episode should release in the next couple weeks (Jon and I planned a short one and it end...

Early Peek at my Next Video and Podcast Announcement

Early Peek at my Next Video and Podcast Announcement

Hey everyone, I've finished my latest review video. This one if for the classic AD&D module Dweller of the Forbidden City. As is often, and increasingly, the case, the video is way longer than I envisioned. I didn't even hit all the minor points I originally wanted to, but once you break the half-hour mark on a 40-year old module review you gotta start wrapping it up. I'll be posting it public Wednesday night or Thursday morning, depending...

Early Look at New Scenario Review - Flatlined

Hello Everyone,

My next review video is done. All that's left is messing with the Closed Captioning, links, and all that little stuff. I plan to post it Public tomorrow, but you get to see it today.

I also admit I may have gotten a little too enthusiastic with the Jack Scenes, as several of the backgrounds behind him didn't require smoke and audio effects or as much photoshopped elements. But I got on a roll and just couldn't stop....

'A Mother's Love' Early Peek

'A Mother's Love' Early Peek

I'll be posting this up tomorrow, but you get to see it today. This is over my own debut scenario 'A Mother's Love'.

It only took (checks calendar) one year after it released for me to review it. Go me.

Thank you for all your support.

Early Look at the Next Video: Combat 201

Early Look at the Next Video: Combat 201

Hey everybody, my next video is edited and loaded up. This one was supposed to be short, but I seem to have failed that goal and rambled for 29 minutes.

This is a sequel to my old Combat 101 video. This one goes to tricks you can do around the table to both speed up and add some excitement to your combat scene.

I should be posting it for the general public tomorrow afternoon sometime.

Have a great day and thank yo...

Early Look at My Next Review & Publication Announcement

Happy Saturday everyone. My next video should be posting either tomorrow or Monday, but you get to watch it now. It's about the Traveller mini-adventure 'Chariots of Fire,' a heist adventure where the PCs are to steal a pair of firetrucks.

In other news, my first official Traveller adventure "Mysteries on Arcturus Station" released yesterday. After reading the classic adventure 'Murder on Arcturus Station' last year, I reached out to Mon...

Early look at my next War Story video

Early look at my next War Story video

Happy Thursday, you awesome Patrons.

I've been trapped in the house due to the crazy Texas weather, but thankfully I've maintained power. Internet was down for most of the last couple days, but I finally managed to load tomorrow's video. But you get to see it today (I was hoping much earlier today, but that whole no or slow internet thing had other ideas).

Anyway, enjoy the story of the worst Fumble Chain I've ever seen, as well as...

Early look at my next video 'Gallery of Souls'

So I was super-industrious the last couple days and managed to knock out the next review video in record time (OK, truth was that I'd been prepping it for a while, and all I had left was the actual recording/editing part which is the fastest part to do).

I plan to post it publicly tomorrow, but here's an early look at it.

Enjoy.

Final 'How-To Traveller' Video in the works

Final 'How-To Traveller' Video in the works

Howdy, everyone. As I'm wrapping up the last episode in my How to Traveller series, I actually remembered to grab a few shots of what it looks like on my end and let you all see just how truly homemade the channel is.

Instead of a teleprompter I use an ancient laptop with a good-sized screen. I write out my script in Powerpoint, using alternate white and yellow text to make it easy to keep my place when recording. Jack's lines are in red...

New War Story coming

New War Story coming

Hi all, I'm mostly done recording the next video. It'll be a war story about the time I kinda-sorta accidentally went all murder hobo burned my GM's game down.

Only one part left to record, and then the chore of editing. Doing War stories is a bit more complicated than the regular videos because I have to record all the Jack and the Gang scenes, but overlay those on top of a dialogue track as I'm telling the story. So instead of my usual...

Behind the Scenes (slides and script)

Behind the Scenes (slides and script)

Hi everyone. I've been assembling the next video (Traveller Space Combat) and figured a few of you might like to see what it looks like on the Back Half.

As you may have noticed, my videos tend to be image-heavy. I find pictures more interesting to look at than just my talking head. They also hide the fact that 95% of my dialogue I'm reading and I'm always glancing back at my script to be sure I don't miss anything. So, prior to recordin...

June Update: Sales Tax and Discount

Hey everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe. I'm sorry the updates from me have been silent. I've pretty much been keeping my head low and plugging away at work.

I'm happy to say that I've turned in a new module for publication (two weeks before the deadline, I might add). However, like the other recent project I completed back in March, I'm not allowed to discuss any details until the publisher annou...

Howdy ya'll

Just finished recording the skit cuts for the next video (Mike, Todd, Dweebles, GM me, and Jack). It'll be about Running a NPC Companion in your party. Now to edit the footage together to look like they're all talking with each other, and with luck, tomorrow I can record and edit the main video section.

Stay safe, everyone.

Thank you for your support.

Thumbnail Poll

Thumbnail Poll

Hello, good people!

I'm putting together the next review vid, and I have a slight conundrum. I'm trying to decide which thumbnail works better. Seems trivial, I know, but evidently thumbnails are important. This is normally one of those things that I silently toil on by myself, but I figured, "Hey! Why not ask my patrons what they prefer?"

So here they are. Do you prefer the top or bottom one?

With luck (providing ...

Pre-Work Peek

Pre-Work Peek

Hi all.

I've been working on the next module review (Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth) and have just about finished the pre-recording phase. During my reviews I use a lot of images from the module or various things. This is what that file looks like. Then during editing, I just drop them in.

Some of these pictures will only be on screen for half a second as I flip through them quickly. Others might stay on the screen for several seconds w...

Hard at Work

Hard at Work

Here's a still from today's recording. This will be in "Mystery of BT-SHT 365 - Act 2".

It's a reenactment from when our heroes got pinned down inside a wrecked car.

It'll be a couple days before the full vid is ready, I still need to edit all the Jack Scenes, and then record the regular Talking portion, but I hope to have it up by Wednesday or Thursday.

Recording Jack's Parts

Recording Jack's Parts

Today I started recording my Traveller campaign diary for "Mystery of BT-SHT 365" (which is one mouthful of a name). Whole thing should run 4 episodes.

This is what it really looks like behind the scenes for Jack Days. For Grista (the wolf head) I really have to waggle the mouth piece to look like she's talking, so her dialogue has to be dubbed in afterwards, so she's not wired for sound. I had to do the same thing when wearing the snake...

The Experiment Begins

After a couple years and many requests to start a Patreon, I've finally done it. I'm not 100% sure yet what this will mean and how much impact it will have. I'm also still trying to figure out how this things works on the back-end, so we'll see.

For the last three years, my channel motto has been the wise words of Indiana Jones, "I don't know. I'm making this up as I go."

Until I have some feasible rewards for the various tiers, I'...
