Hey everyone! Here I am with the fourth ep of Oshi no Ko!!!! Omg! Aqua really knew what he was doing here didn't he?! It's amazing to me how he managed to calculate things like getting a better ambience for the scene, getting a better reaction from the actor, and most of all, setting things up for Kana to act her heart out! Also, we're getting to meet some folks around our new school which is fun - especially since Ruby is big time fangirling hahaha. I think having Kana in the idol group could be interesting, but let's see what she says!!! Great ep! Enjoy!!! ~ MH

It must be hard for Kana to see the direction of the production, I can see why she got Aqua involved. Aqua channels his dark side so well and makes such great use of things like the puddle! That's such a great point about proactive and reactive acting!!! I think that could definitely be a big lesson here, about putting some heart into the production and seeing the end result. I can't imagine how hard it must be as an author to see a poor adaptation, even thought as you said, no adaptation is perfect. Oooooh Palpatine and Anakin are such good examples!!!! That's a great point about the actors - there's so much else going on in the production, yet it all comes down to the. Praise from the author is pretty darn substantial! Ohhhhh ok thanks for clearing that up about the school scene! Haha yeah Googling someone in front of them is a bit rude I guess. Impatience seems like it would be a big detriment in this industry. But yeah, the timing is tricky because you don't want to be idle for too long either. I can't wait to see how this all turns out!!!

2023-12-08 03:52:35 +0000 UTCWell, a couple of things to start with: the halfway point isnât coming until after next weekâs session. So the rule still applies until then. :) Also, youâre right about this series being more character focused. Most shows that work I think, are - you need the plot to drive them somewhere but itâs all about the investment into their personalities. The way the scene is setup is interesting, how everyone has marks to hit. Aqua even notes they particularly placed the actorâs designed stepping areas to avoid puddles. More on that in a moment. Kana is acting in this drama for two reasons: one, as shown last episode, she needs the work. Two, it just happens to be a story sheâs really into already. So the fact that everything has gone exactly how she didnât see it up to this point is kind of disheartening. That may have been a subtle choice to encourage her to push Aqua to come in and help her. When the scene starts, thatâs when Kana realizes the scope of her naivety, as the lead actor has no charisma, and isnât even trying to put any emotion into the scene. Cue Aqua, who purposefully IGNORES the marks, and steps in the puddle to be even creepier. Everyoneâs got a dark side - the trick is knowing how to channel it for an actor. I guess you could say there are two different types of performances going on here: Aqua is playing a proactive role: heâs responsible for the entire mood of the scene, for using all the tools he has to work with, and to create an environment the leads can work with. Kanaâs role, as the heroine, is far more reactive. Despite her place in the story, she has to adapt to everything going on around her - which is why Aqua did that ad lib about photo editing. He managed to shock the lead into actually playing off him, and gave her a window. His understanding comes from a lot of book reports of previous masterpieces in school, apparently, The manga artist scene is interesting, because, as we all know, no adaptation of a manga is perfect. Same could be said for any other sources, as well. She even said, at one point, thereâs not much hope for a finished story with no room to grow - which might give us a clue into why animes are started commonly while the manga is still being done. But the artist has a certain vision in mind when they draw - and the reason she started to tear up is Aquaâs âmeddlingâ actually got them to shoot the most famous scene in the manga the way it was originally visualized. By then, most of the general public had given up on the show - but the lesson is see what happens if you actually put a little heart into the medium? Another good example of proactive and reactive is the Star Wats characters Palpatine and Anakin, who youâre pretty well familiar with. Itâs the job of the first to create the mood, make the scene and the audience uncomfortable, and itâs the job of the second character to play off of that. I threw in that just for you. The actor knows the character needs to be hated, so heâs asking: how can I deliver this line or move on a way that will make everyoneâs skin crawl? Aquaâs doing the same thing. Kana mentions at the wrap party âa lot of peopleâs jobs are dependent on our performances.â Think about all the work that goes on outside the screen, thereâs a lot of time and effort that youâll never see. The actor has perhaps the least amount to do from a worrying standpoint - but everything rides on them. When the author thanks you directly, thatâs pretty high praise, no matter what itâs for. Meanwhile, it seems the producer is not who Aqua is looking for, but he could have the information he needs about Ai. Heâll just have to get on a dating show. This should be interesting⌠as you can see heâs got the natural personality charm of a woodblock at the moment. đ The scene of them leaving for school is the same one that ended the first episode - so episodes 2 through now took place prior to that. The school itself is a whoâs who of the young adult entertainment, actors, idols, pinup models, and Ruby is fangirling so much sheâs intimidated. Aqua isnât nearly as worried and helps her out by introducing her to Frill, a popular tv star, after sheâs made friends with Minami. Although the girl is right, you probably shouldnât Google someone in front of their face⌠and Ruby is shameless when she steals Aquaâs advice about making friends and passes it off to Minami as her own. Itâs starting already. Ruby is actually so flustered sheâs getting impatient, and thatâs never a good thing in this industry. But it is true that she needs to find a career path quickly in this line of work⌠and perhaps Aqua mightâve unwittingly found the first piece already without trying very hard to. I mean, most of Kanaâs boxes are already checked. But will she go for it? đ
