MHA Incubus: Chapter 27

Third Person Point of View

Zen Shigaraki(All for One) sat alone in a prison cell. He was completely bound, which could have held many other villains, but not himself. It was all a facade, a false sense of security to those who had defeated him while his plans came fully online. It was a break for him, at least that was what he thought. Until he felt the quirks in his body shift.

It was a very familiar feeling; anytime he received or divested a quirk, he would feel this way. It had never reacted on its own before, even the first quirk he stole, his mother's bone quirk, he did knowingly. The first two quirks were support-type ones. Overclock would allow him to think faster, and it also improved his mental-based quirks. Another was air walk, which would allow a person to walk through the air and was a redundant quirk he would pawn off to one of his pawns the moment he could.

The next two would have made his eyes go wide, if they still existed. The copy of the lifeforce quirk he received from Doctor Garaki would double his life expectancy, but as the quirk was removed, his body rapidly aged to its current real age. The next was a quirk that would slowly heal wounds on his body. It wasn’t very strong, but it was the only thing keeping his already severe injuries from worsening.

His breath hitched as he felt a fundamental part of himself pulled from his body. At first, he wasn’t sure what it was, because it had always been there; losing it was akin to losing a vital organ. It was such a shock, it was one of the last things he checked, but… He lost it, his own quirk, All for One. He reacted with a very calm attitude to what had just happened.

“AAAAARRRRGGGHGHGHGHH!” Screaming so loud that he tore his throat. His muscles bulked with several unseen quirks as he pushed against his restraints, a liquid black portal opened under his feet as he made his way out of the deepest cell of the prison. He had given up on his plans; instead, he just wanted to cause as much chaos as he could before he’d win or be taken down.

All Might had lost his powers. Well, he could go into his Might form for a few seconds every day, but at that point, it was only for self-protection, as fighting crime was completely impossible now. He didn’t know what to do now that he had so much free time, but that was the least of his problems. He was worried about the future.

While on the bus, taking transport again after so long felt surreal, he got a call. He was half tempted not to answer it, because it would be rude, but his brain caught up that it was his ‘hero’ phone, not his civilian one. The moment he clicked accept, a familiar voice cried out in fear. “All for One broke out of Tartarus and is going on a rampage. Make your way to the school as fast as you can!”

All Might ran toward the bus exit before the driver stopped. He was only a few blocks from the hero academy. He felt his heart beating in his chest as he wasn’t sure what he could do.

Hawks coughed up blood; he had held out the best he could, but All for One’s quirks were too varied. Even just by himself, he was an enemy, but it seemed that all the surviving villains were making their last stand with him. It seemed like they didn’t care for their own lives; no, they wanted to deal as much damage as they could to the fragile peace the heroes had built.

He needed to buy time. The longer he could last, the more likely heroes would show up to help. He dodged another power quirk that tossed a vending machine at him as he floated away from several injured civilians. Every inch the villains took, they had to fight for. How many had he taken down by now? Dozens? Easily. Hundreds? Possibly.

It was a losing battle, and up until then, it was a slow, inevitable loss. Except it gave All for One the time to deal with him. Hawks moved in a familiar way, and as he did so, a spike pierced his body, almost killing him right there on the spot. He fell brutally to the ground as other villains began to encircle him. He was going to give up, to just let himself die, but he heard a very familiar catchphrase.

“PLUS ULTRA!” He only had enough time to recognize that it came from a far more feminine voice than the one he was used to shouting it.

All around Japan, and even some heroes outside of Japan, got the call. The villains were making a last stand. Something had set off All for One, and now he was pushing all his cards forward as he tried to flip the table and start over anew. Many retired heroes put on their mantles again, while others, no one would expect, also stood up.

A housewife who had put up her costume took it down again. Even now afraid to put her life on the line, but it was better than the outcome if the villains won. The vigilantes who fought crime while avoiding the law, just because their quirk wasn’t suited for hero work, or they failed out of the hero path, began to move. Even some of the villains were now questioning their place in the world. Would bringing all this chaos really be good for most criminals, or only the ones who helped All for One?

All everyone knew, is this was going to be a day that went down in the history of Japan. And all the civilians were hoping for a miracle to happen. All Might had just retired, and his nemesis was back. Who could handle him at this point?

I knew he would make a big deal of the moment I took his quirks, I just didn’t expect this kind of reaction. At the same time, I wasn’t expecting to steal his own quirk, the quirk that made him so feared, as I made my way to where the other villains were being held. If we wanted any chance at defeating him while keeping the damage and casualties down, I’d have to borrow a few quirks; hopefully, this ‘borrow’ will be more permanent since I plan on working with the good guys.

I asked one of the guards. “Nezu should have already called ahead about why I’m here. Where is Twice located?”
