Chapter 139 - Has Tiona fallen in love?
Added 2024-11-01 15:33:52 +0000 UTCThe blades sliced through the air, producing loud sounds each time they pierced the monsters. They kept changing direction as if dancing in the air. The monsters couldnāt get close.
I smiled at Ais, who looked startled.
"I didnāt know you could do something like that," she said, watching my blades.
"Itās very useful, but I canāt keep it up for long." Even though my mana reserves had grown considerably, it was draining rapidly.
It took a lot of mana to keep the blades flying around at high speed. This isnāt something I can use for extended periods; Iāll have to turn it off soon.
āThen letās get ready. Donāt worry, itās all right; you donāt have to do everything alone. Weāre not going to die to something like this,ā Ais said confidently.
"Thatās right, Luan! You donāt need to keep holding them back! Let them come closer!"
Thatās not the issue here... I know you wonāt die, but the mission doesnāt allow you to get hurt. You canāt get injured in any way.
How should I explain this to them?
Thereās no way to explain it.
āDonāt worry, I can handle this.ā
The number of monsters had dwindled significantly.
All the monsters were nearby; I couldnāt sense any further out. They were all gathered around us. I should create an escape route for them.
And thatās what I did.
āAis, Tiona, Tione. Being surrounded isnāt a good ideaāthis way.ā
All the blades flew forward, creating a large path for us to pass through. To be safe, I used [Dark Magic] to create a tunnel, shielding us from any incoming attacks.
As we emerged on the other side, the monsters āscreamedā in rage, and the Bad Bats increased their flying speed to harass us.
But my blades came from behind and pierced every one of them.
There were few Bad Bats leftāthey were nearly all dead.
The largest number of monsters now were the Orcs, the strongest ones.
Luckily, we werenāt attacked by a large group of Infant Dragons or anything like that.
āLuan, shouldnāt we leave now? These monsters seem endless,ā Ais looked back at the swarm of monsters. It was like an army of them.
āDonāt worry, Ais, I can handle this.ā
āAre you sure? You look tired.ā
My breathing was heavy. I felt a little tired.
āItās fine; those blades drained a lot of my magic. Iām tired, but Iām okay. Donāt worry, Iāll recover quickly. In the meantime, Iāll fight using my dagger.ā
āYou plan to fight all of them head-on? Donāt be ridiculous, weāre going to help you.ā
āNo. You canāt get hurt. You canāt suffer a single scratch, understand?ā
Hearing my words, all three of them blushed, clearly embarrassed. They thought I said that because I liked them, but thatās not it! I want to complete this mission!
āSo stay back and donāt get in my way, all right?ā I said to them, looking seriously at all three.
After that, I started running toward the group of monsters, gripping my sword.
I cut through the air at high speed, then swung my dagger relentlessly, slicing through everything in my path. Even though some monsters managed to hit me, they were just weak ones.
I didnāt feel any pain.
I began moving and slipping between the monsters, slicing through their bodies as if they were made of paper.
Their numbers didnāt seem to be decreasing.
āDamn, my dagger.ā
My dagger was reaching its limit. It was extremely damaged, with cracks starting to appear along the blade. Besides, I couldnāt cut the monsters as easily as before.
āDamn it. Burn.ā
With my dagger close to breaking, I used magic.
Around me, towering walls of flame rose in a 20-meter radius, burning the monsters within range.
āTheir numbers have decreased enough; I think itās all right now. I can do this at my own pace.ā
But before I even realized it, the three girls were already close and had started fighting the monsters.
āI told you not to come closer!ā I shouted, running toward them. I then created a barrier in front of them and myself. āI said I donāt want you to suffer a single scratch. Stay back!ā
āYou looked like you were struggling, so we came to help. Donāt worry, we wonāt get a single scratch,ā Ais said confidently.
I realized I was being foolish. These three girls are incredibly strong.
And as I expected, they began fighting the monsters with perfect coordination.
The number of monsters dwindled faster when we started working together.
We were lucky this mission took place on this level. If it had been deeper, we would have been in serious danger. Imagine an army of minotaurs coming at us like this.
Then, after long minutes and lots of magic used.
[ Mission completed! ]
[ Points: +50 ]
[ Ais Wallenstein, Tiona Hiryute, and Tione Hiryuteās favorability increased by 50%. ]
[ Tiona Hiryute is in the process of falling in love with you. ]
What a surprise.
But I didnāt have much time to think about it. My body, extremely fatigued, finally gave in. I had never used as much magic as I did today; my mana reserves were practically empty.
As I fell, the three girls approached, concerned.
āLuan, are you okay?ā Tiona asked. She knelt down and placed her warm and soft hand on my face.
Ais, however, didnāt express her concern in words, but her gaze said everything.
āIām fine, just a little tired.ā
āThank goodness. I was worried,ā Tiona said, smiling.
Ais sighed in relief.
