My OCD was on high alert, due to my unbuttoned shirt and lack of glasses. But that didnโt stop me from putting away a huge breakfast. Afterall, I was moving out, wasnโt I? I needed to use up all the food I had in the fridge, didnโt I? And I did. And I was still hungry afterwards. Increased appetite was definitely in the Adonis Sequence brochure, but this was getting ridiculous.
I loaded my stuff into my car and said good bye to Mrs. Olsen, the woman I had been renting my room from. She looked at me a little strangely and asked if Iโd been working out. To save myself a long and needlessly complicated explanation, I just said, โyes.โ
โYouโre looking good,โ she said. โIt agrees with you. I rent to a lot of students. So many of the brainy ones are pale and too thin or too fat. Nice to see you breaking the mold. Wearing contacts was a good decision, too.โ
โContacts? Iโm notโฆ Oh, yeah, Iโm wearing contacts. Thanks.โ
I hated saying I worked out and wore contacts. Those were things shallow people did. Next thing you knew, Iโd be sounding just like my narcissistic twit of a roommate. Well, that was never going to happen. I didnโt know how much further this Adonis Sequence thing was going to go, but I had to have been through the worst of it. I mean, how much more could I possibly change.
I wasted no more time and drove straight to the school. The morning drives were always easier, but on this occasion, I was distracted by my open shirt and lack of glasses. It was really irritating, kind of like that itch you canโt reach and that wonโt go away. I was almost tempted to stop on the way and buy a shirt, but then I would have missed my morning class and that just wasnโt an option.
First stop was the dorm room to unload my things. I opened the door and walked in onโฆ Well, Iโm not sure what I walked in on!
My roommate was just as naked as heโd been the day before and the other dude, well, he was almost in the same state.
โIs this him?โ the other dude said to Grant.
โYup. What do you think?โ
โNot much to look at yet, is he?โ said the other dude.
โYou should have seen him yesterday,โ said Grant. โHe was way worse.โ
