Hey guys. Just to help out...the pronunciation of Aesin's name is more like 'air-shin' without rolling the 'r' of course ๐ Hope you guys are enjoying it so far. I know it can feel like a slow build, but it's worth it! You also got to learn a little more about Dongmae, the rลnin, and definitely a crowd favourite character during this show! As for Aesin, I like that this show presents her as someone very capable and strong-willed with an unwavering love for her country, but she is naive when you see how she mistakenly trusts Eugene without confirming his identity and intentions. But then you also have the other contrasts to her character in Eugene, Dongmae and Huiseong. The characters are certainly not black and white in this show...so it takes time to flesh them out. It gives you a chance to really feel what Joseon means to them in positive and negative ways.

To her 3 mals of rice was beyond significant and enough for her son to survive for some time, yet to a noble woman even a mere accessory was worth more than that. Iโm really enjoying rewatching my favorite show with you and youโre honestly doing pretty good keeping up with most of the story and characters! I also love that youโre so interested in the history that you do some research on your own. This is why I enjoy your reactions specifically, you actually have things to say and also take a lot away from the things you watch <3 Also Eugeneโs line โAmerican guns treat the nobles and slaves just the same. His mom was raped by someone and she killed him, after that she knew she & her family would be punished, that's why she chased away Dongmae by aiming knife at him.
