Here is the second drawing of the Series, "The Planets." This time, it is Planet Venus, also known as the armpit of the Solar system, according to my Astronomy 1010 Professor.

A little gross, but that's kinda Venus in a nutshell. Beautiful on the outside, but ugly on the inside. What makes Venus ugly is found in the Speedpaint video that is included. You get to know a lot about Earth's sister planet.

This is an addendum to the closed captioning that I never included. Blame the Birthday soju. But here's more stuff related to Venus.

Venus is actually essential to understanding modern Astronomy. Venus' orbit disproves the Geocentric Theory, which was set in stone in Astronomical consensus for centuries by the ancient Greeks. While Galileo wasn't the only person who challenged Ptolomey's model of the Solar System, Copernicus, Tycho, and Kepler also tried to disprove the model with varying degrees of success. Galileo's observations with the telescope disproved the Geocentric theory that insists that the Earth is the center of gravity of the Solar System.

Galileo noted two things that dealt a devastating blow to the Ptolemiac model and that being the phases of Venus, similar to the phases of the moon. Galileo noticed that the changing of the phases of Venus was consistent if the planet was orbiting the sun. When Venus is in front of the sun, Venus would be in its new phase, reflecting no light, but it reflects light when Venus appears behind the sun, which orbits are slightly inclined. If the Geocentric model was true, Venus would have two "new" Phases where the Planet would be inbfront of the sun twice because of what is known as epicycles, which are circular motions within orbits that is meant to explain away apparent retrograde movement, which will be a topic I'll probably discuss when I get around drawing Mars.
